Gaming and Learning Behavior in the Online-Game Hortus
Gaming and Learning Behavior in the Online-Game Hortus
Publication type:
mastersthesis

Abstract:
This paper analyses the gaming and learning behavior of individuals in the online game Hortus. Plants have to be cultivated and leaves gathered in order to achieve the goal. Different behaviors and characteristics have been explored and analyzed on the basis of the impulsivity and reflectivity model. The reflectivity states that certain individuals take more time in the consideration of correct solutions to their current problem. The impulsivity signifies that some individuals tend to react quickly on problems without an accurate consideration. The analysis of these behaviors in the context of Hortus has shown that fast players have delivered a higher rate of dead and unhealthy plants than accurate but slower players.
