Abstract:

The project “mioBook” uses “DocBook” and “DocBook XSL” in order to compile a book. DocBook is a programming language to compile a document. By the application of DocBook the contents of a document can be explicitly structured. DocBook XSL accounts for the formatting of a DocBook document. In this project thesis a couple of test documents will be compiled by means of DocBook. In this project thesis a couple of DocBook XSL Stylesheets, also called XSLTSchemata, are developed in order to realise the required formatting for the project “mioBook”. The knowledge of XSL (Extensible Stylesheet Language) is essential in order to understand DocBook XSL. XSL consists of three components: XPath (XML Path Language), XSLT (Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformation) and XSL-FO (XSL Formatting Objects). In this project thesis the languages for DocBook, DocBook XSL, XPath, XSLT, XSLT-FO and XSL are described.
