CoopSC: handling updates disributedly

mastersthesis

CoopSC is a cooperative database caching architecture developed by the Communication System Group (CSG) at the University of Zurich which uses a peer-to-peer (P2P) network to exchange database query results from the client's own local cache between peers. The goal of this thesis was to adapt the given CoopSC architecture in order to store timestamps and to handle updates in the P2P network. The new prototype was tested and evaluated in order to compare its performance to the CoopSC version which stores timestamps on a centralized database server. The test results have shown, that the distributed timestamp and update handling is a robust alternative to the centralized approach.
